In whorls of tea-grass,

here is where he’d stripe his line

of spotted brindle.

Born of a paintball

ootheca—spread to splatter,

hundreds of brushstrokes.

Siblings gathered form

umber dashes on beryl:

a single willow.

Jack Apollo Hartley (@jackpollyharts) thinks reading paint colors out loud is a very entertaining group activity. His work can be found in warning lines, Kissing Dynamite, perhappened, and other lovely places. He is the editor of HELL IS REAL (@HELLANTH).
